Striving Readers

The Portland Public Schools Striving Readers program is one of 8 projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education to improve reading skills for middle and high school students. The school district will receive $23.5 million over five years to implement the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) and components of the Content Literacy Continuum (CLC) developed by the University of Kansas. The program is being implemented in four high schools and five middle schools in Portland. RMC Research is the external evaluator for the project.
