Arizona Mathematics Partnership Project

RMC Research serves as the external evaluator for the Arizona Mathematics Partnership, a 5-year targeted Mathematics and Science Partnership project funded by the National Science Foundation and led by Scottsdale Community College in conjunction with Chandler-Gilbert and Glendale Community Colleges. The Arizona Mathematics Partnership utilizes a systemic model of professional development to advance the pedagogical knowledge of the middle school mathematics teachers in the Deer Valley, Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Chandler, Florence, and J.O. Combs school districts and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Community Schools. In turn, this professional development is intended to increase student achievement and prepare students for challenging high school mathematics courses. The professional development focuses on helping teachers implement the Common Core mathematics practice standards. The project also contributes to the participating colleges’ research on developmental mathematics and the characteristics of sustainable professional development.
